DESCRIPTION

Scintilla is an ocean cruising liveaboard.  And every owner since new has used her for that purpose.  As such, she has been equipped, maintained and updated for that purpose constantly. The current owners have sailed her 35k nautical miles in the last ten years in comfort, safety and with good speed. She is equipped and ready for her new owners to continue that mission.

Scintilla is the desirable aft cockpit cutter version of the CT49. And as a late run boat (hull 66), her build benefited from the knowledge and experience of previous boats and the original owners’ skilled input. She has the functional aft cockpit and a unique small center cockpit that gives access to the middle of the boat and temporary deck storage at sea.

Fuel: 148 gallons in 2 black iron tanks.

Water: 165 gallons in two S/S tanks.

Holding: 25-gallon poly tank.

Accomodations

Number of heads: 2

Staterooms: 3

Berths: 3 double, 2 single

Headroom: 6’5”

Forward is a large cabin with a king-sized V berth with a custom latex mattress. There are two hanging lockers, two banks of drawers and a locker under the forward berth for general storage. There are two levels of shelving on either side of the berth. Also under the forward berth is a large water tank.

Just aft of the forward cabin on the port side is a head with a wet shower.  There are lockers on the outboard side, under the counter and sink and behind the stool.  Across from the head is a bank of drawers, counter and locker with a roll top door.

The main cabin has a large U-shaped dinette to port that converts into a queen sized double via a trundle.  There are shelves and cabinets above and outboard of the dinette. There is a centerline table with a leaf on both sides. When both leaves are open the table spans the entire boat and can seat upwards of eight people.  The center section of the table has a locker and a dedicated silverware drawer.

The starboard side has a single settee that is wide and very comfortable for sitting and sleeping. There are shelves and cabinets above and outboard with one cabinet being converted to office with a dedicated printer/scanner/copier installed and office supply storage underneath.

There is a fuel tank under both starboard and port berths and both berths have lee clothes and are very comfortable at sea.

Aft of the settee is the galley.  It is a U-shaped galley with both refrigeration and freezer boxes run on independent compressors.  There is a dry storage locker in the counter next to a double sink and outboard of a late model ENO 3 burner stove and oven are storage lockers.  Also, above refrigeration and freezer are storage cabinets and a double locker for dinnerware and glasses.

On the starboard side of the main salon is the nav station. The nav station is big enough for someone 6’5’’ and over 300lbs. It is very roomy and comfortable.  There is a shelf and bookcase outboard of the nav station.  Behind the nav station is a hanging locker. This locker currently houses an Icom HF radio, 230VAC battery charger, 120/230V switch and a hand tool caddy that has seven removable containers.

The passageway to the aft cabin has a large hanging locker to starboard and to port, two access panels to the engine and generator.  There is a shelf above the hanging locker.

In the aft cabin there is a double berth to starboard with an outboard seat with storage below and a cabinet above.  The berth has an outboard shelf that runs its length.  On the port side is a single berth that has been converted to storage.  It has a shelf running the outboard length.  There are small cabinets at the aft end of both berths.  At the forward end of the aft cabin is transmission and generator access and a dedicated cabinet for a clothes washer/dryer.

On the port side of the aft cabin is an enclosed head with a dedicated shower stall.  There is engine access also through a panel in the shower.
