DESCRIPTION

Updated Classic Morgan

New bottom paint, with the hull cleaned and polished for the season. New thru-hull has also been recently added as well.

Built  at the height of the Morgan Yachts era, this boat has been re-powered and updated.  Tiller-steered, she harks back to the IOR racing rule days (some say she was intended more for racing under MORC).  She carries a PHRF rating in the 160’s and will be a joy to sail in our Puget Sound waters.

The Yanmar 3GM diesel is a solid bet for longevity and reliability, with a major rebuild done on it and the transmission in 2022. Her dodger and boom cover were renewed in 2023.  She’s equipped with a folding Max-Prop and a slim skeg running the full length of the rudder for strength and good tracking on all points.  Her chain plates have been customized to provide exceptional strength.

Her sail inventory includes a partially-battened mainsail, 150% genoa, and 4 additional headsails.

The cockpit is very roomy and the dodger (new in 2021) provides excellent companionway protection with the traveler/main sheet just behind the companionway entrance.  All lines are led aft to the cockpit.

Four headsail winches, 2 of which are self-tailers, hydraulic backstay adjuster, modern hydraulic boom vang, and an auto-pilot round out the list of extras on deck.  The non-skid on the decks was just sanded and redone, and the mainsail boom cover is new (late 2023).

The table folds up to a very minimal footprint and the Dickinson bulkhead heater will keep you warm year-round.  The nav station just forward of the quarter berth is easy to use.  The galley to starboard is plenty adequate for this size vessel.  The head and V-berth are forward, with a fairly new toilet, nice cushions in the V-berth and good storage.

The Dent de Lion is a very practical, enjoyable sailboat and her slip at the Everett Marina is readily transferable to a new owner.
